Our Mission
Our Mission – A fourfold promise.
We aim to help our guests celebrate the everyday through unique tasting experiences. Our modern, Midwestern spin on a European market draws attention from across the state. Our unique dining concept combines experience, education and the unexpected. From our partnerships with local farms, to relationships with exclusive vineyards, and as creators of meticulously crafted desserts, every aspect of our business is driven by our desire to curate. The Purveyor is proudly local, connecting our community to global taste and offerings.
To Procure the Finest Goods Iowa – and the World – Can Offer.
To procure means to obtain something, especially with care or effort. Procure is part of our four-fold mission because we go that extra step to make high-end products available to our guests for retail purchase. Our aim is to be the go-to spot for our guests to have locally sourced products that are ready to eat.
We procure the high-end and fresh products that we know our guests are dying to try. By utilizing local vendors, we are able to guarantee that we procure the quality, seasonally fresh and local products that we know our guests are looking for. We never settle for less, and want to give our guests the best experience that we can. Our guests are encouraged to stop in and pick up a fresh charcuterie platter, paired with wine from our wine barrels and a selection of Doré Bakery treats.
Our products are great when used to entertain guests in the comforts of home. Relieve the stress of preparing food, and purchase the perfect charcuterie hors d’oeuvres, bite-size desserts and a bottle of wine. We want our guests to have access to high-end products for entertaining guests at home.
We partner with local vendors to offer the best that the Des Moines area has to offer. Our major partners include Doré Bakery, La Quercia, Milton Creamery, Maytag Dairy Farms, and Berkwood Farms. These local vendors are known for using fresh and seasonal products, never compromising on quality. With these products available, we are here to give you the best of the best.
To Expand Your Palate.
Our greatest goal is to see our guests thoroughly enjoy and experience the different tastes that we offer. We are enthusiastic about our fares, as we want our guests to be about the experience of tasting. We want our guests to try something new and exciting, because that’s what the Purveyor is all about.
When people share tasting experiences with friends and family, new memories are made. Whether it’s bonding over trying different wines, sampling our charcuterie meats and cheeses, or choosing favorite Doré Bakery treats, our guests are sure to have an unforgettable experience. We want our guests to be making new memories with fine wines and food that can become the new tradition for get-togethers.
Whether our guests plan to host friends and family, or are just looking for good food for the evening, our products are appropriate for any small occasion. Treat yourself and your guests with delicious flavors and tastes that your taste buds are sure to enjoy!
We don’t want our guests guessing how the different flavors of our products taste. We encourage our guests to try different samples of our products, so our guests are sure to be satisfied. In trying our wine before purchasing, there will be no need to go label shopping. We offer education and an unmatched tasting experience that is eco-friendly.
Our unique dining concept combines experience, education and the unexpected. We know our guests crave unique, unforgettable experiences, and that is what we are here to do.
To Cultivate A More Educated Consumer.
We encourage you to have a conversation with us about how to best pair your favorite flavors. Which wine goes best with your charcuterie meat and cheese? How can dessert be tied in to accurately accentuate the flavors of your wine and charcuterie? We don’t want you to guess or be in the dark; so don’t be shy about your questions! We are passionate about our products and what we do, so let us share our knowledge with you.
We encourage our guests to have an educating experience. Let us share our tips and tricks to pairing our products. We know everyone has different preferences, so we encourage our guests to try before buying. This is a great way to learn more about the products you’re buying, and to try new things!
It can be easy to blindly buy items, like most of us do in the grocery store. We want our guests to come into our retail space and have a conversation with us about the products offered. We proudly partner with local companies to support our community, and so that we have an accurate understanding of where our own products come from.
We can always learn from one another, so come in and have a conversation with us. As our products will rotate from season to season, we’ll always have something new to share. Join us in going the extra step to understanding the foods and drinks we indulge in.
To Foster Conservation-Centered Consumerism.
Conservation is important to us because it not only protects our community, but it also protects us. We hope that by doing our part in conservation and sustainability, that we can inspire those around us to be mindful as well. As a business, we feel it’s our responsibility to do what we can in conservation and evolve as we grow to better help our community.
We utilize wine on tap to cut down on the waste of bottles of wine. Instead of opening several bottles of wine to only use one glass from the bottle, we can offer any wine on tap to our customers without the risk of wasting the rest of the bottle. This is a great way for us to be more environmentally conscious, and even keeps the wine lasting longer.
With our use of local partners, we are able to use products that are locally fresh. Through our local partners, our products change seasonally, so that we always have seasonally fresh offerings. Our partners are also doing what they can to help benefit the surrounding community in the best way. One of our partners, Berkwood Farms, is committed to humane animal husbandry and eco-friendly production practices. We choose our partners carefully, as it is our responsibility to ensure that our values are reflected in the products that we use from the beginning.
We feel that by helping to better our community through conservation and sustainable business practices, that we can make a difference and to encourage others to do the same.
“At La Quercia, we believe that the food we eat can delight us each day. We craft our cured meats with the highest quality materials, combined with careful adherence to tradition and the judicious use of modern tools. The food we eat tells us a story, reaching from the farmers to our processing facility to stores and restaurants and then to the final consumers who purchase our meats and enjoy them. We are thrilled to be part of Purveyor’s work and narrative.“
Kathy Eckhouse – Co-Founder and owner of La Quercia
